Farm to School and Hospital

What CAFF Offers
  • Farm to School – connects schools to farms in the classroom, on the farm, and in the cafeteria to provide fresh, healthy, and tasty food for students while also increasing farmer income
  • Farm to Hospital – works with existing distributors and hospital food service staff to facilitate the sale of local farmers’ products to hospital kitchens
  • Harvest of the Month Tasting Kits – a monthly educational program featuring produce from family farms in the classroom
  • California Farm to School Network – a communications and resource hub with Regional Leads providing technical assistance in ten regions across CA
  • FoodCorps – In partnership with Life Lab, CAFF is the California host site for this national service program, featuring 15 service members at 12 sites across the state

  • CAFF can help develop your Farm to School or Hospital goals and program, based on our 15 years of experience working with local farmers and institutions.
  • CAFF provides fee-for-service technical assistance in sourcing local products through: Developing your Farm to School or hospital plan, understanding regional agriculture, formal and informal bids, developing specifications to get local products, identifying family farmers, working with distributors, marketing in the cafeteria, classroom, and workplace, and evaluating your program
