Sweet Piedmont Flowers is a flower farm and florist operation, established in 2016.  We grow specialty cut flowers and use those blooms in arrangements sold at local farmers markets, via bouquet subscriptions, and also for weddings and events that we design.  Located in Loudoun County, Virginia, about an hour’s drive outside of Washington, DC., we are committed to no-till, ecologically sustainable practices, and do not use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. We believe strongly in the importance of locally-grown food and flowers, and have developed a strong and committed customer base that embraces those ideals.

We are looking for a Farm Crew Leader who will manage and lead the Sweet Piedmont farm team.  The Farm Crew Leader will provide on-site management of the farm team, and will be expected to supervise, plan, schedule, and participate in most aspects of farm operations, including field preparation, soil improvement, seeding, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and processing, and preparation for farmers markets.

The Farm Crew Leader will have the opportunity to work with the owner to learn about and assume additional responsibilities, such as crop planning and new business activities, enabling the Farm Crew Leader the opportunity to develop into a Farm Manager capable of leading and performing all aspects of flower farm management. Activities related to the floral design aspects of the business, such as bouquet-making and wedding floral creation, are not a mandatory aspect of the Farm Crew Leader position, but are similarly available for apprenticeship, if desired.

This position can be either seasonal (mid March through early December) or could be extended through the winter, based on the employee’s availability and the mutual agreement of the owner.
