Beautiful certified organic farm hidden in Santa Barbara 2 miles from the ocesn which needs someone who loves plants and trees, and has the experience to help them produce fruit. One-two days/week, experienced farm worker needed–can be field work, orchards or both. We have a 2 acre diverse fruit orchard, berries, olives, and many tropicals, from bananas and rare citrus to avocados and papayas.
Schedule flexible: choose your one or two days (10- 20 hours/week). Organic farm experience preferred. We have work available immediately. The ideal candidate is someone interested in becoming part of a busy organic farm long term, with some organic farming experience.
No degree necessary; ability to understand English needed, and native Spanish speaking helpful.
You’ll perform weekly or twice weekly tasks at the Farm, including harvesting, post-harvest preparation, planting, seeding, weeding and pest-control, and compost creation, distribution, integration, maintenance
If you have
*worked on an organic farm, orchard or vineyard, prepare soil and are good with plants
*repaired small appliances, plumbing, irrigation
*have made compost, mulched, trapped gophers, fertigated, sprayed for pests
*carried 60 pounds of supplies in wheelbarrows and carts, and by hand
And if you like to
*work hard, organize well, think ahead and anticipate/help solve problems
This job is for you! Must be able to read and speak English. No smoking, littering or drugs/substances. $14-$20 per hour, based on experience.
