Beautiful certified organic farm hidden in Santa Barbara 2 miles from the ocean which needs a ranch hand with at least two years of organic farm or orchard experience, preferably with Mediterranean, subtropical and tropical fruit trees. It’s 3 acres, with oak woodlands, native plants, and a diverse fruit orchard of 50 types of fruit, hundreds of trees, dozens of rooms and modest kitchen gardens, farmed using regenerative, permacultural and organic initiatives and principles.

Schedule flexible: two days per week available, 10- 20 hours/week.  Spanish fluency helpful but not essential.

You’ll be engaged in harvesting, post-harvest soil preparation, planting, seeding, weeding, mulching and pest-control, irrigation set-up and monitoring, small equipment repair and maintenance, and compost creation, distribution, integration, maintenance. The farm is designed to be an educational center as well as a working farm.

If you have
*worked on an organic farm, orchard or vineyard for at least two years
*repaired small appliances, plumbing, irrigation and are efficient in your work
*have made compost, mulched, trapped gophers, fertigated, sprayed for pests, planted cover crop
*carried 60 pounds of supplies in wheelbarrows and carts, and by hand

And if you like to

*work hard, organize well, take direction, work independently, think ahead and anticipate/help solve problems

This job is for you! Must be able to read and speak English. No smoking, littering or drugs/substances. $14-$21 per hour, based on experience.  One month trial period anticipated, six month commitment to the work requested thereafter.
