Farm Crew

Website Riverhill Farm

Certified Organic Farm in the Sierra Foothills.

Riverhill is certified organic and a diversified twenty-acre family farm now under the stewardship of Mel & Kyle Burns(previously of Nye Ranch). The farm is located near the Yuba River and just three miles from Nevada City. We intensively farm six acres with a wide array of annual vegetables, strawberries, blackberries, fruit trees, herbs and cut-flowers. Our crops are sold through two farmers markets, an onsite farm stand, the local natural foods co-op, and restaurants all within Nevada county.

Giving back to the land is important to us! Our practices aim to increase the soil organic matter and nurture the diverse ecology of Riverhill by incorporating cover crops, mulch, no-till & reduced tillage methods, pollinator hedgerows, ponds, and we’re always trialing and experimenting with new(or old) techniques.

We are seeking five hard working, self-motivated, and good-humored individuals to join our farm crew!

  • Three(3) positions available March-November.
  • Two(2) positions available May-November.

Opportunities exist to join our year round team! You will be working primarily with a crew but must be independently motivated as well. Ideal applicants have 1+ year farm experience.

Primary tasks include: harvesting crops, transplanting, pruning, trellising, weeding, seeding, market prep/farmers market/farm stand, washing and packing produce, driving deliveries, and more.  Potential to work and learn in the flower field.

Although always overwhelmingly beautiful, the tasks are often strenuous and repetitive, so we aim to build a team that works cohesively to maintain a positive and enjoyable working environment. We value open, honest communication and true passion for feeding the community.

Prior farm experience is preferred but not necessary. Our intention is to support and nurture your understanding, skills, and appreciation for local, sustainable agriculture, with opportunities to continue to grow with our farm.  Must enjoy hard work, a fast pace, good conversation, and vegetables(!). We are looking for individuals who are serious and passionate about farming as a career! This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is ready to take on the challenge, responsibility and gratification of farming.
