small organic family agritourism operation - all about apples

If you have ever dreamed of spending a season on a beautiful little farm this may be the job for you. We are a small organic family farm on a river with 16 acres of heirloom apples. 80 varieties. We have an on site farm stand, apple processing, including vinegar and cider etc. We also have a wholesale business with both packed fresh fruit and pasteurized apple juice that is made off site. Agritourism is a big part of our business with 4 units onsite and guests coming and going as well as a few weddings and private parties.  Our crew is small and needs to be flexible, but this position will be mostly orchard focused. Housing is by the Navarro river in a beautiful setting with either a gypsy caravan or small cabin. Communal kitchen is well set up with everything you might need and is sheltered but open air. Hot and cold potable water are supplied are in place as well as outdoor shower private outdoor shower. Candidate needs to be social but independent and able to work both as part of a team and alone. Thinning and irrigating through the summer transitioning to harvest in the fall.  There is plenty of opportunity to learn a lot with this job experience, but there is no formal teaching element. It is learn by doing, with guidance and oversight.

Job is available from now until mid November. Compensation is minimum wage less room and board.
