Global Quality Foods, Inc. is an expanding and diversified company with a 350-acre property in Bethel Island, CA.  We are exploring options on how to best develop this land as a production farm to raise/grow different produce, orchards, and/or livestock.

Job: Farm Manager

Location:  Bethel Island, CA (Northern California/San Francisco Bay Area)

Reports to: Vice President

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop a small/medium scale agricultural business with direct contact with private owners.  He/She will initially be responsible for developing the property and propose how and what type of agricultural business the owners should pursue, including developing all the facilities to support the farm production.  This requires the ability to be a creative and forward thinker with the ability to submit plans, proposals, budgets, and expected profitability for your vision of the farmland.

Job Description: Global Quality Foods, Inc. is looking for an experienced Farm Manager with good business sense to join our team. The Farm Manager’s initial responsibilities will be to develop plans and proposals to determine the best agricultural use of our 350-acre Bethel Island, CA property to maximize profit.  As the land is developed for agricultural use, the Farm Manager will also be responsible for monitoring staff, crops, livestock, purchasing supplies, preparing budgets and reports, and maintaining maximum profitability.

Duties/Responsibilities: (not limited to the following)

Spearhead development of agricultural business on 350-acre property, overseeing all aspects of farming/livestock operation.
Make decisions about crops or livestock to grow/raise by evaluating factors such as market conditions and soil conditions.
Plan and prepare finance reports, set up budget limits for various farm activities, and maintain the farm activities in agreement with the budgeted parameters.
Perform laborious farm activities like driving tractors on field, operating field-based machinery, and equipment, spraying fertilizers on field, managing livestock, etc.
Analyze existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommend improvements as required for efficient operation of farm.
Schedule repairs, maintenance and replacement of equipment and machinery.
Ensuring all staff adhere to health and safety regulations.
Supervise all steps of crop production or ranging, including planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and herding.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Monitor and assess the quality of farmland or livestock.
·         Self-motivated and ability to respond to changing conditions to maximize crop or livestock production.

·         Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

·         The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.

·         Superb communication and interpersonal skills.

Willingness to work overtime as required.
Additional courses in Business Management or Administration are recommended.
Education and Experience:


High School Diploma/GED is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or equivalent preferred or applicable work experience in developing land for agricultural use.
Extensive experience in a farming-related field.
Management experience would be a plus.
Physical Requirements/Demands:

Most work performed outdoors; regular exposure to dirt, dust, noise, adverse weather conditions and mechanical hazards when operating farm tools/equipment.
The Farm Manager must be able to do physically strenuous, repetitive tasks, such as bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs. at times.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed, particularly during peak seasons.
Must be able to hear and see alarms and dangers or hazards.

Salary: $50K to $65K DOE
