We Grow for Life
At Common Roots Farm, people with and without disabilities can participate on our urban farm, taking care of plants and animals, and creating friendships with one another that sustain everyone. We grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers while providing farm skills training to interns and volunteers, environmental and gardening education, and micro-enterprise opportunities on approximately four acres right in the heart of Santa Cruz, CA.
Common Roots Farm is looking for a live-in volunteer for a minimum commitment of five months between May-November, for our 2021 season. Our live-in volunteer receives a small stipend, fresh eggs and produce, and simple accommodations during the farming season. Volunteers will be able to: work outdoors doing physical tasks, desire to be part of a farming team but also ok doing solo tasks, adhere to Covid safety protocols, and want to learn many aspects of our farming operation. Tasks can include bed prep, greenhouse care, planting, weeding, harvesting, packing and washing produce, chicken care, egg collecting, and others tasks, as well as farming alongside farmers with disabilities in a Covid safe collaboration.
