We are a small livestock farm specializing in duck eggs, pork, and lamb. We pride ourselves on ethical, low stress handling. Our focus is preserving and supporting heritage breeds as well as growing a healthy animal above all else. We strive to be good stewards of the land we tend to by rotationally grazing our animals, having diverse livestock species that complement one another in a holistic approach, and providing habitat to native species whenever possible to uphold a healthy ecosystem. We are focused on sustainable and regenerative practices.
Our ducks are all heritage breeds. We have over 10 different breeds that have different strengths such as foraging capabilities, mothering instincts, and egg color. I always describe duck eggs as chicken eggs on steroids. They are bigger and more nutrient dense, and I’m in love with their rich, velvety yolks. Our feed is GMO free.
Our lamb is from two different hair sheep breeds. We raise American Blackbelly and Painted Desert sheep, both known for their hardiness, browsing capabilities, and delicious, mild tasting meat. During the dry season of California, these sheep not only deal with the heat much better than wool breeds, but they are also more than willing to browse on blackberry, willow, coyote bush… so when the grass is all gone, they can adapt. Our lamb is 100% grass/browse fed.
Our pigs are heritage breed as well, right now we are raising a mix while we get started but our goal is to focus our attention on the Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, known for being excellent foragers and grazers, but also mothering instincts and mild temperament. We feed a mix of goat milk, GMO free grain, glean from orchards and gardens as well as walnuts seasonally.
