Olson Farms is composed of Anders, Marisa, and Baby Walter, as well as a small team of professional farmers growing on 15 acres in Penngrove, California. Since 2012, Olson Farms has produced organic greens, root veggies, herbs, and tomatoes, with a focus on Italian, Southeast Asian, and Afro-Caribbean varietals.
The Olson family and most of the team lives in Oakland and are dedicated to uplifting urban communities through access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Olson Farms operates farm stands open daily in Penngrove and Oakland. These stands help Olson Farms achieve one of their missions of fostering thriving, healthy, walkable, bikeable communities where families and individuals can gather.
Anders’ degree from UC Berkeley in agroecology and soil microbiology has trained him to pursue sustainable agricultural production using both technical and local ecological knowledge. His ultimate goal is carbon sequestration through vegetable production. With 10 years under his belt, he has “finally figured out a few things.”
