Support FAMILY Farms IN CRISIS

From catastrophic wildfires to global pandemics to the ever-deepening drought, farming is risky business. This is even more true for smaller family farms and those from BIPOC, immigrant, and disadvantaged communities. Despite being the heart of our local food systems, these community-scale entrepreneurs too often fall between the cracks of traditional safety nets and government aid. That’s where we come in. The California Family Farmer Emergency Fund offers direct financial support to the most vulnerable farmers impacted by disaster. You can help make this fund possible.

Please consider giving today, helping to ensure the resilience of those who grow our food and steward our land. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS.

ABOUT THE EMERGENCY FUND

Over the past few years, CAFF’s California Family Farmer Emergency Fund has directed over half a million dollars worth of generous donations from people like you to hundreds of farmers in crisis, from those who lost crops, barns and homes in evermore destructive wildfires to those whose markets vanished overnight during COVID-19 lockdowns. Add to this a now crippling drought. And yet, time and time again, we’ve watched as government aid, programs and agricultural subsidies have failed to reach the farmers who need it most. Rarely designed for small operations, these farmers get overlooked or, in some many cases, are even ineligible for funds.

THAT’S WHY OUR COMMUNITY MUST COME TOGETHER AND rise to the occasion.

CAFF’S COMMITMENT TO RACIAL EQUITY:

Because of systems of historic inequity, CAFF recognizes that some farmers are more likely to fall between the cracks of traditional safety nets. For this reason, farmers of color, immigrant farmers, and undocumented farmers will receive special consideration, but we encourage all California farmers to apply.
