Farm to School
CAFF’s Redwood Coast region increases knowledge of and access to fresh, healthy, locally-grown food in school cafeterias through assisting food service authorities with local procurement and marketing, supporting Harvest of the Month in the classroom, and providing educational programs directly to students.
- CAFF’s Know Your Farmer Program allows 800-900 students to visit local farms.
- CAFF has established work site CSA programs and also also helps to increase EBT access and use at farmers markets, CSAs, and farm stands.
- CAFF provides Farm to Cafeteria support to institutions, procuring over $20,000 of local produce each year. CAFF has also helped 10 school districts purchase over $15,000 of locally grown produce and grass fed beef each year from 8 farms.
- HOTM reaches over 6,000 students per month with produce sourced from local farms.
