Harvest of the Month



CAFF’s Harvest of the Month Tasting Kits deliver farm fresh produce to school classrooms where teachers take the lead on food and farming education.  The program encourages students to increase their consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables by connecting them to California family farmers through taste tests and in-class lessons. Each kit contains enough seasonal produce for an average size class to taste, a farmer profile, an identification sheet and a Network for a Healthy California nutrition education newsletter. CAFF hosts teacher trainings at the beginning of every school year to familiarize teachers with the program and demonstrate how it can be best integrated into theihotm2r classrooms.

North Coast: The North Coast Harvest of the Month Program delivers tasting kits to nearly 300 classrooms each month throughout Sonoma County. During the 2013-2014 School Year, the North Coast HOTM Program delivered over 15,000 tasting kits.
