Photo Monitoring on Your Property

(DIXON,CA) Landowners who are interested in tracking the changes on their property will want to attend a field day Wednesday, July 23, 2003, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Jepson Prairie Reserve, south of Dixon.

Are you trying to weigh the success of a revegetation or soil stabilization project? Photo monitoring is a good way to measure the positive and negative effects of farm management strategies.

Participants will learn how to set up a photo monitoring system to record vegetation types, amount of plant cover, erosion control, and other physical elements of a property. View photos taken over time from various sites, and find out how to locate and use pictures from historical resources.

Discover what photo monitoring can reveal about your property over time, and see how to integrate your old photographs into your monitoring system.

Sponsored by the Solano Resource Conservation District and the CALFED Ecosystem Restoration-funded Watershed Stewardship Project of the Community Alliance with Family Farmers. Directions to Jepson Prairie: Take Highway 113 south from I-80. Twelve miles south of Dixon, where 113 turns east at an overhead warning light, go straight onto the gravel road (Cook Lane). Cross the railroad tracks and continue to the parking area near the eucalyptus trees.

For more information, call Tacy Currey at the Solano RCD, (707) 678-1655 ext. 101, or Janice Corner at Community Alliance with Family Farmers, (530) 756-8518 ext. 15.
