REGIONS :: HUMBOLDT COUNTY

Welcome to the North Coast Chapter page

Local Restaurants Buy Fresh, Buy Local
Look for participating restaurants displaying our Buy Fresh Buy Local decal in their windows. This CAFF identification shows that they are buying from local farmers and have special menu items using local food from our regional farmers.

CAFF is launching innovative local dinners with restaurant partners that promote the local farms that supply the menu items.  This year we are launching the season earlier with restaurants June through August with a final celebration of local food month in September. Local Options Directory

Check out Humboldt’s Local Food Guide within the pages of the Independent Business Alliance’s Local Options Directory. View the Local Food Guide online. The guide is a complete listing of over 150 local farmers, their products, and how to access them. It includes information on Community Supported Agriculture farms, U Pick and Farm Stand sites, farmers’ market schedules, local vintners and more.

Humboldt Policy Update

Humboldt’s General Plan is in the long process of being updated and we’re rallying community members to become involved.  We’ve been able to bring all the farmers’ market associations together in a common position statement on the County General Plan update.

The position statement is calling for stronger zoning protections and expanded incentive programs to protect Humboldt's best farmlands. Click here to read the one page document . Call 268-3704 or visit the county’s website at www.planupdate.org to learn more about the General Plan Update including how you can participate and a schedule of community meetings and public hearings. (For now, clicking on the “add me to the Humboldt County GPU list” will get your comments to the right place until the appropriate link can be updated). Come out to the next GP meeting to make your voice heard!
