Fact Box
-
According to CAFF's analysis of data provided by the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration, since 1999, 98.5 percent of the
reported California-sourced E.coli 0157 illnesses were traced to processed, bagged salad (that the industry calls "fresh-cut").
See the Analysis Chart!
-
Biological farming promotes healthy soil in which food pathogens (such as E.coli 0157) have to compete with other microbes and are less likely to thrive.
-
Conservation practices on the farm have been shown to filter water, reducing food contaminating pathogens and improving water quality.
