Renew American Food Traditions with Slow Food Ark of Taste Chair, Poppy Tooker and Rick and Kristie Knoll.

The storied flavors featured in this multi-course meal will include wild-caught Louisiana seafood paired with

Knoll Farms specialty heritage produce grown for this dinner and locally produced wines from award-winning Bloomfield Vineyards!

A retinue of Bay Area chefs will transform these inspiring ingredients into magical courses for a once-in-a-lifetime evening in the bucolic setting of the fragrant fig orchard at Knoll Farms.

All proceeds will benefit Slow Food Nation, to be held in San Francisco from May 1 - 4, 2008.

Monticello Dam 50th Anniversary Celebration

Description:

Entertainment for the event includes music by the Putah Creek Crawdads from 10 a.m. to noon, and music by Hardwater from 1 to 3 p.m. Also available are free wagon rides by Buzzards Roost Ranch of Winters at the park.

Various non-profit organizations (including CAFF) will have displays, information and activities for children at the park. All exhibiting organizations have a tie to the dam – agriculture, education, water conservation, recreation, water resources or environment.

A limited number of 45-minute tours of the Monticello Dam will be given throughout the day, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and leaving every half-hour until 2:30 p.m. Shuttles will leave Lake Solano Park and go up to the dam, where a narrated tour will be given at the top of the dam.


 

"The Future of Cotton" Sustainable Cotton Project Farm Tour 2007

Description:

A one-day tour of the San Joaquin Valley that will challenge your perceptions about what agriculture is and what it could become.

Between late September and mid October, when cotton is harvested and farms throughout the state are at the height of activity, The Sustainable Cotton Project offers a one-day tour. Visitors travel a central loop through the San Joaquin Valley, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the many sides of conventional, BASIC (Biological Agriculture Systems in Cotton), and organic cotton production.

The tour leaves from the Piccadilly Inn-West Shaw in Fresno.

The Mosaic Project

Uniting school-grade children from different socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds in week-long outdoor programs focused on building respect, self-esteem and community.
